Problems with running Doepfer modules in old AS case

Problems with running Doepfer modules in old AS case

2010-04-23 by slowalan

I want to put two small Doepfer modules in an old AS case containing the basic AS system.. The case is a 6u thing with no fuses on the power rails, (nor Doepfer sockets!)

I am using two of those adpators purchased from Analogue Haven...I know they are meant to be used to plug AS into Doepfer, but I can't see why they can't go the other way.

However, I am getting very wierd, fluctuataing, low voltages, so low they hardly light up the clock and lfo led's on the AS system. No magic smoke, but not good .

All went back to normal when I took the Doepfers out. I have checked that the -12volts pins are properly aligned and not upside down...can't understand what the problem is....any ideas?

PS the Dopefers are a A-150 dual VCS, and a A-160 Clock divider, replacing the RS -100 Low pass filter, which I dont use much...should'nt be excessive power requirements, (I guess...)

Any ideas would be appreciated!

I agree it seems like it should work both ways, but perhaps there is some
asymmetry in the connections. You should ask the Doepfer yahoo group about
this-- the adapter from Analogue Haven was actually made by Doepfer.

This is the schematic from Analogue Haven that you probably already studied.
If not here it is:

Top is AS bottom Doepfer.
