produce really fat analogue sound. I don't like Doepfer, beacause it
is not fat and aggresive enough. Actually I like Arp 2600 and synthi
AKS. Compare to this kind of vintage synth , Is res 8000 can produce
that kind of sound? Actually I just want to buy a Modular system but
I can't afford the Moog V or Arp 2500. Is RS 8000 a good choice for
me?

Yes, The RS8000 is a good modular. No, the Doepfer is not less "fat and
aggressive" than the AS. Yes, the RS8000 can produce "that type of sound".
No, the Arp 2500 isn't fatter-sounding than the AS or Doepfer. No, none of
the above necessarily have to sound "fat and aggressive" -- they can also
sound thin or soft or brittle or rubbery. No, none of the above will sound
like much of anything until you spend a good deal of time with them getting
to know them. But again, yes, AS makes a nice modular.

hello,
actually,if you combine three or more doepfer vco's
you can make a very good fat sound!!!use the a108 8
stage ladder filter and you'll see what i mean...
as for the rs8000 ,it also has a good sound but if you
want something like the EMS AKS,include the rs500e ems
diode filter and the rs510 trapezoid generator
modules.
also,the new integrator rs8000 or the doepfer a100
modulars can do A LOT MORE than the old moog modular
or arp2500 and with much more stability!...
bakis.

I would keep :
* 1 RS20	ring-mod + mult
* 1 RS40	noise + s&H + clock
* 3 RS60	vc adsr
* 2 RS80	vc lfo
* 3 RS95	vco
* 1 RS100	ladder filter
* 1 RS110	multi-mode filter
* 1 RS120	comb filter
* 1 RS170	mult.
* 1 RS230	cv buffer / inverter
* 3 RS180	vca
* 1 RS165	cv mixer
* 1 RS160	cv mixer
* 1 RS70	pre-amp + inverter + slew
* 1 RS210	fixed filter bank

I would remove :
- 1 RS30	freq. to volt. + env. follower
- 1 RS50	trigger gen.
- 1 RS130	programmable scale gen.
- 1 RS160	cv mixer
- 1 RS250	trunk line
- 1 RS270	adaptator converter
- 1 RS280	audio trigger divider

I would add :
+ 1 RS310	reverb / chorus
+ 1 RS360	vocal / phase filter bank
+ 1 RS400	phase shifter
+ 1 RS500e	ems synthi filter
+ 1 RS510e	trapezoid gen.

My suggestion: you need to think long and hard before doing
this. Whenever I make it over to Big City Music and screw
around with Roger's massive AS Modular, the very first thing I put
my hands on is the 130. Not only is it a scale generator, its an
arpeggiator on steroids and overall an extremely interesting
control voltage device. A marvelous instrument.

Don't make the same mistake I did in '83 when I sold my six
panel Serge for $1700 - keep this module!

But if you must, then you must sell it to me!

 If I had Synthi AKS. Did I need to add the RS500e(ems synthi filter)
and RS 510e(trapezoid gen)? Is it really to produce same sound of
that ems module?

hello synthfreak2600,
the rs500e has a switch to select between 18db and 24
db filter slope.also has a cv input for the filter
response(RES).these two functions are not available in
an unmodified synthi AKS.the rs510e is idential to the
synthi envelope shaper section.(but,again,you can
connect it to the big world of modulars,unlike the AKS
envelope shaper section...)
