A systems vs A Solutions

A systems vs A Solutions

2004-08-19 by hefnerwww

I've got a small but growing AS system but occasionally I've found
myself looking at the A solutions stuff. I'm never that keen, I've
seen some only OK reviews , but recently I saw some good looking
modules but they 've since disapeared form their page. Does anyone
know a A solutions discussion page or does anybody have an opinion
on their stuff? - D

My 5.1 cents:

The A. Solutions stuff is fine, but doesn't interface itself readily outside
of it's own environment for a couple of reasons, most notably being that the
VC Inputs have no processing and leave that to the OUTPUT level setting of
the module that's plugged into it. This is great if the second party module
you're plugging in there has an output level adjustment (like the RS60
ADSR). But if it doesn't, you've got full range going directly into the
circuit and it hampers the usefulness by eliminating the possibility of
subtlety.

I own an Analog Solutions LFO 1 and I really like it - i'ts my go-to LFO. I
fixed the issue of the non-attenuating VC input by adding a Gizmotron.

hope this helps..

- P

I understand is it a similar situation with doepfer? And to re-ask
part of my question does anyone know of forums dedicated entirely to
Asolutions and or doepfer?

Nope! Doepfer VC inputs have attenuation pots. They work seamlessly with
Analogue Systems.

Doepfer has it's own yahoogroup: Doepfer a100.
