Underpowered Chassis

Underpowered Chassis

2004-12-26 by alt-mode

Folks,

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a bigger power supply for an older
RS15 Chassis? Mine doesn't have enough power for my modules. [Remove a
largish module (e.g. RS-110) and it runs fine; put it back and the chassis
will run for a bit but then it will generate a loud low noise at the outputs
of some of the modules and the LEDs visibly change state.]

I've played around with different module arrangements but without any
current draw information on the modules, this is a guessing game! Note: It
would be *really good* to have this information on the web site like other
modular manufacturers do!

Any pointers are welcome.

	Eric

hello,
the current draw info for each module is in their
website.
here is the link:

Doh! I can't believe I missed the power listings right at the top
of the modules page. OK, I'm officially blind. Thanks for the
pointer.

One of the interesting problems I'm seeing is that if I pull out an
RS-110 filter (45ma), the chassis seems to work fine but if I
instead pull out an RS-390 Echo (160ma), the problem is still
there. It takes a bit longer to happen but still does. Hmmm,
perhaps I just have a general power supply problem and not an issue
with the load.... More investigation needed.
