Analogue systems

All -

I am on the verge a buying a used modular system, Doepfer, >64 
modules.  Up to this point in time I have been a steady user of a 
variety of virtual analogs (Supernova II, Nord Modular, Creamware 
Modular and other Creamware Synths, various VSTs) and one analog 
(Xpander) but am drawn to a real analog by.....what? the potential 
for pure analog sound and the committment and focus a modular bank 
forces on a musician?

Anyway, reading the posts about various VCO qualities,etc on this 
group - I would appreciate any informed/experienced opinions on the 
+/- of Doepfer versus AS versus Blacet etc modules.  What better 
place to ask this question than on a group that is not dedicated to 
Doepfer?  Also, any sage words of wisdom on what I am getting myself 
into with a modular system.  The beauty, the frustration, spousal 
relationships, etc!
