I've had the same problem from the moment I bought my BCR 12 months ago: For about 4 months I thought it was due to a messed-up driver installation under Windows: the standard "USB Audio" versus the Behringer-supplied 1.1.1.0, 1.1.1.1 and 1.2.1.3; you know the type of problem... What often happened was this: I started my own BC Manager (which I was developing), then the BCR would stop sending data after about a minute. Then I exited BC Manager, and when I restarted it, BC Manager immediately reported "Undefined external error". (The source of this error message was the Windows MMSystem MIDI layer, responding to BC Manager's attempt at connecting to the BCR's USB-based MIDI device; I've noticed that other software (Sonar, Reason etc.) may or may not produce similar messages.) What I then often did was reinstall the USB driver (I can't remember if this procedure involved leaving the BCR switched on, or re-powering it): then the USB connection would often work correctly for the rest of the day. So you can understand why all those months I thought that the USB driver was the cause. However, 8 months ago I bought a BCF, and over the next few months I slowly realized that the BCF NEVER had this problem. Finally I spent at least a full week trying everything I could (roughly the same list you've mentioned). In the end I came to the same conclusion as you: the USB controller on my BCR is defective, and has been since I bought it. rpcfender wrote: > I bought a BCF a little while ago and it worked fine on the MIDI ports. > I went to use it through the USB and it would send but not receive. So the reverse of Martin's and my problem on the BCR ?! Very intriguing. > I am beginning to wonder about some common problem as so many people > are having trouble. I'm planning on going back to the shop with my BCR (I still have about 11 monhts of warranty), once I can find the time to do so, hopefully within about a month. I'll let you all know what comes out of this. Mark.
