Hi Joakim (and Royce) - Cubase user here, i ran into the same problem lots of time ago and....unfortunately there's no way to overcome it with cubase ONLY! When you set up the Generic Remote using plugin XYZ (say, with 10 parameters) on slot 1, you are actually assigning CCs to the first ten parameters of WHATEVER plugin you load in insert 1 - if you replace XYZ with plugin ABC (for example, with 12 parameters) , the map you created for XYZ will control the first 10 parameters ONLY of plugin ABC. If you have a look at the .xml file created when you save the generic remote, you will see there's no reference to XYZ, but only to slot 1 - cubase actually assigns controllers to param 1,2,...,N of the "generic" plugin loaded in insert 1 (N being...for example, the 32 knobs, or whatever!). You could create eight Generic Remote banks (INS1, INS2 etc), which is pretty simple if you look&edit the xml file (much better than using the setup page for the Generic Remote....) CCs can be assigned to bank up/bank down commands and also to SPECIFIC banks (so you could use BCR buttons to select the correct bank) - also, you can set up TWO generic remotes with the same set of CCs: this way you can assign the SAME controller to different action (so the same button can OPEN the vst GUI and at the same time select the correct bank) The remaining issue is that a knob's "name" depends on the plugin: encoder 1 may be threshold for the compressor on slot 1 and chorus rate on slot 2, or threshold for compressor X and make up gain for compressor Y....and of course each plugin has his own list of parameters, and two FX of the same kind often have different parameters - almost always in a different order! that's the workaround i found: use www asseca com mGUI to wrap your vst (youcan give them a new BCR like GUI and change the order of parameters, so you get everything done with visual feedback)... i hope it helps, at the moment i'm at work so....i'll tell you about mGUI in episode 2! Take care, Francesco --- In bc2000@yahoogroups.com, "joakim777el" <joakim777el@...> wrote: > > Well. Thank you for answering anyway! > I have gotten things to work like I wanted now.
