Customized Mackie emulation ?

2009-01-13 by dapelikan

Hi all,

first of all thanks for the great and detailed information available
here, it is really invaluable.

I'm using Cubase4 with a BCF, and naturally i started to use MCU
emulation. However, i was a bit frustrated to see many buttons are not
used in Cubase, and some are assigned to functions i do not need or
are too complicated to use (especially the shift+button ones which
require you to have giant's hands).
So i looked around to see wether it was possible to try and implement
a custom MCU emulation that would suit my needs better.

I found these pages http://www.arthunkins.com/Behringer2MCUPresets.txt
and http://www.arthunkins.com/Behringer2MCUPresets.zip which were very
helpful.
I modified the .syx files opening them with BCMan to change button
assignments. It worked partially, but I couldn't get the led rings to
display pan values and update correctly, neither did I manage to get
the button leds to reflect the software status. This works fine in
'native' MCU mode, so i thought maybe it would be possible to achieve
the same with BCMan.

Also sometimes the faders are not initialized. I changed the
connection from usb to MIDI and this seems to fix it ...

Any advice, please ?

Cheers,

Lorcan
