By coincidence, I have been investigating the BCF's emulation mode
MIDI protocols in detail recently: however, as yet I haven't come
across what you're calling "more stuff", i.e. a specific protocol for
controlling the LEDs, but I'll look out for this.

Can you figure out which MIDI messages Cubase sends exactly in MCU mode?
I don't have Cubase myself, so I can't help you in this respect.
(There are several setups in which you can intercept these messages.
E.g. via MIDI Yoke + MIDI-OX, or even a simple MIDI splitter box or
patch bay.)

Once you know Cubase's messages, it will be immediately clear whether
it's possible to emulate this in standard B-Control mode.
