First a note about the "twice": this is probably because you get an error for the BCR's input device AND the output device. BC Manager reports the "Undefined external error" based on what it is being told by BCR's MIDI driver. This error probably indicates that the USB controller on the BCR is defective (I've had this problem myself, as have several other people - check the message archive of this Yahoo group). If that is the case, all you can do is use the non-USB modes (S-1/2/3/4); or have the BCR replaced, of course (if you're within warranty, you'll probably get a new unit for free, at least that's what I got). However, it MIGHT be a USB/MIDI driver problem (something gone wrong during installation or so), so one thing you might try is uninstall the BCR's MIDI device driver (e.g. via Device Manager), switch off the computer and the BCR (you know the drill...), then restart and let Windows install its default "USB Audio Device". Then see what BC Manager reports - although my guess is that you still get a similar error. It might also be a USB cable problem, so you might try using a different cable, although my guess is that this won't help either. Mark.
