My bcd will not respond to anything sending to it with USB. I can't get any led feedback, can't update the firmware (1.10 already) and can't upload any presets. I have tried with a my laptop on osx an acer with vista and my iPad, it ignores all USB in. Any help would be much appreciated, is it common for these devices to have a USB fault? I can update it with midi but I bought it for use as a USB device.

If you can work with the BCR normally via standard MIDI but not via USB, one potential cause is that the USB controller on the BCR is defective. (This has happened to several people in this Yahoo group, including me - you can search the message archive.)
But it may be premature to conclude that it's that.

Have you set the BCR's Operating Mode to a "U-" mode (e.g. U-1)?

Does the lack of USB communication concern BOTH directions?

By the way: if the BCR's display shows "1.10" on startup, its firmware is totally fine and it is completely pointless to try to refresh it: on startup, the BCR tests its firmware against a stored checksum - if there's a mismatch, the BCR doesn't show "1.10" but goes into "noOS" mode.

Hope this helps,
Mark.
