Bc2000 (for the BCF2000 & BCR2000)

Another limitation of the doepfer board is that it doesn't provide any indicator leds as the bcr2000 does.

I make something called a blipbox [1]:
large, resistive touchscreen, configurable into several zones which may be sliders, buttons or whatnot.

Still, there's a lot to be said for tactile feedback - real knobs and sliders that your fingers can feel.
And for the price, behringer have squeezed an awful lot into the 2000 series: loads of high resolution encoders with LED feedback and programmable functionality. Too bad the build quality isn't better.

The touchscreen approach has other advantages, like being able to control several parameters (e.g. a 4-way crossfader) with a single gesture, or the ability to 'draw' an EQ curve, envelope or waveform. And you don't get the same stepping problems as with encoders - or at least there are ways to avoid them.

There are devices like the Missing Link [2], which connects e.g. an iPhone with a midi device wirelessly. Nice concept, but with that many layers between touch and sound I can't help but think that latency and flakiness will be a constant problem.
