Bc2000 (for the BCF2000 & BCR2000)

Is it possible to control more than 8 faders in ableton live with BCF2000 in any mode (mackie emulation or normal presets)?

For me all experiments failed because when I try to load projects with more than 8 channels or try to add the 9th channel and try to change groups, midi communication is being lost.

Any ideas ... ? or someone who really managed to handle more than 8 faders in ableton live? 
One last resort may be the use of an external (USB) midi interface in the midi IN/OUT S-modes but never tried this one. Maybe someone else can report results without using the internal midi interface.
