Is it possible to control more than 8 faders in ableton live with BCF2000 in any mode (mackie emulation or normal presets)? For me all experiments failed because when I try to load projects with more than 8 channels or try to add the 9th channel and try to change groups, midi communication is being lost. Any ideas ... ? or someone who really managed to handle more than 8 faders in ableton live? One last resort may be the use of an external (USB) midi interface in the midi IN/OUT S-modes but never tried this one. Maybe someone else can report results without using the internal midi interface. Thanks

I'm not an expert on Live, but here's what I just did: 1. Switched on the BCF2000 in "MC C" Emulation Mode (by holding the second top button from the left), in Operating Mode "U-1". (Actually I'm not sure which Emulation Mode works best for Live. You might try studying the layouts in Behringer's "BCF2000_Emulation_modes.pdf".) 2. Started Live 8.2 (under Windows 7). 3. In Live's Preferences dialog box on the "MIDI Sync" tab: Control Surface: Mackie Control (there may be a better choice for this, but at least this worked for me) Input: BCF2000 Output: BCF2000 4. In "Session" view, I inserted 20 audio tracks by "Insert Audio Track" (Ctrl+T). Now I can work as follows: a. To switch between tracks 1-8, 9-16 and 17-20, I press the "< PRESET" and "PRESET >" buttons on the BCF2000. The BCF2000's motors respond immediately by updating the fader positions. b. When I move a fader on the BCF2000, the corresponding tracks's on-screen fader in Live moves accordingly, and vice versa. This works for all 20 tracks. Is this what you're after? Right now I can't get things working in the BCF's standard "B-Control" (preset) mode: when I "Dump" Live's setup for the BCF2000 to the BCF2000, the BCF2000's display shows "Er22"; this may indicate a bug in what Live is sending to the BCF2000 - or else I'm missing something... Hope this helps, Mark.

thank you for the useful info. Really helpfull. It seems that there is a specific issue here (xp 32bit) that disconnects midi out after 8th channel and hangs all control by pressing preset (fader bank group) buttons in a fuzzy way. Same behaviour with all midi driver different versions. The general idea is that it should work at least as you described. Something is messing up with midi or there is more or less a bug behind the scenes. The external midi interface looks like a possible solution, or a new setup/ or different machine. On the "dump" sysex side "Er22" is here also --- In bc2000@yahoogroups.com, "Mark v.d. Berg" <markwinvdb@...> wrote:
