RE: [bc2000] Re: BCR2000 no longer sending MIDI?

Well I bought a pair of MIDI cables and a new USB A-to-B cable. I tried the USB cable with the BCR in all of its USB modes and it sure does look like USB capabilities are no longer working.

I connected the MIDI cables to the BCR and to the old Yamaha MIDI interface. Communication with REAPER is working on the BCF setting, but not on the BCR setting. I'm also getting some bidirectional communication (Solo and Mute, specificlaly). This is good news!!! :-) "Normal" MIDI control (ie: not set up as a control surface) works fine too :-)

This also seems to confirm that both my original all-in-one-cable USB-to-MIDI adapter did indeed break, and also that the replacement was partially dead-on-arrival. I may indeed so some tests with MIDI Tools on these adapters when I find some free time. For now, though, I'm back up and running.

Thanks again Mark for helping me with this. If I had decided to replace the BCR you would have saved me $100+, and so a small donation to your Mountain Utilities page will be forthcoming.

Merry Christmas and THANKS again!

Amazing! I didn't think it would work, but rereading your posts it struck me that all the BCR's MIDI I/O LEDs still seemed to work, and it seemed a bit unlikely that these LEDs would "lie".

One (not necessairly good...) piece of advice:
if I were you, I would leave Reaper and the BCR out of the equation until I've established working MIDI input and output ports (i.e. device drivers) for the MIDI interface(s).
I would test these I/O ports by MIDI Tools.
Maybe you can set up a loop from an interface's output to its input by means of your MIDI cable, just like you've done with the BCR: then you can send something from MIDI Tools (e.g. note or control messages) and see if these messages come back to MIDI Tools.

Hope this helps,
Mark.
