One of my BCR2000 stopped powering up so I swapped the caps again on the power supply but the did not revive it this time. I checked the voltages on the power supply pins and the 3 pins that are ground are at 0V, the next 3 are at aprox. 5.0v and the red wire which is alleged to need to be 5.9 volts is aprox. 5.0 volts. So I thought, crap it's the cpu board. For no good reason I took all the guts out of the frame and laid it out on the bench. I powered up this octopus of parts and too my amazement it powered up and posted! - huh..... So I spun a pot expecting the numbers on the display to run but no they do not. Nor does the led move from it's spot on the encoder. Well May there was a short (sure) and it's doesn't behave well because it needs it's chassis ground. (right). So I put everything back together in the frame and at least it powers up in the frame now but it is as dumb as when on the bench. The preset buttons work in concert with the led display and the encoders follow the preset 'personality" as expected. You can enter global setup and the parameters are all correct and fully tweakable. Midi is down though. The 5 pin dins don't seem to transmit or receive in S-1 - S4 and usb midi is seen by the pc but no midi flows either way. So I can't redo the firmware as the midi is down. - I think. Anyone seen such a failure mode?
