I tried this, it didn't work! But what I did find, was that the USB port on the BCR had a problem, it's loose or something. After screwing the BCR back together once I had removed and replaced the flash chip, I held the USB lead down as I pushed it in and turned it on, and noticed that windows didn't pop up an error from the tray saying the usual "The I/O device reported an I/O error", so I was able to change it to S-3 mode from which I could properly control the unit from. So, maybe one day I'll open it up to fix the USB port on it if I need to, for now though I'll just leave it as it is and use it in S-3 mode!
