Re: [bc2000] DX7 Preset

2008-02-13 by Alan Currall

Wow Royce,

This is incredibly thorough. Thanks, I'm sure, on behalf of all those other TX7 users out there whose machines will be unlocked by this amazing preset. Sadly it'll be one more reason not to turn my Atari ST on again, as that's what I used to use for editing.

There's just one thing I'm not clear about. I've only ever downloaded sysex presets to my BCR. Are these .BC2 files sent to the BCR in the same way, or have I missed something important (I am new to this list).

Thanks again,
Alan

Hi all (Alan in particular),
I have downloaded my presets for the BCR and my DX7 to the files area.

It should give you a good start (if not the whole thing) in creating a preset for the TX7.
If it is different can you post your TX files as well.

Although my DX7 is the original version I think it should work (perhaps with minor adjustments) for the later DX's as well.

If anyone has a DXII please try it out and let the group know if it works.

I have the Robin Whittle upgrade (he lives down the street from me ) and I find that the DX will stop producing a sound each time a sysex message arrives. I assume this is true of all DX's , but if not please let me know.
Because of this I have set the $global parameter .txinterval to its max (100) to reduce the number of sysex messages coming through and causing a buzzing sound.
Unfortunately this means that the other presets in the BCR will have the number of MIDI messages reduced and this might cause jumping in values on other presets.
Feel free to adjust this and let me know what you this is best.
Robins update has a set of sysex messages for the additions, but I haven't included these.

It uses a lot of the techniques that have been written about here and so it could be of use to other people wanting to create presets for hardware using sysex.

I hope it is of use

Royce
