BCR sending cc 38 for no clear reason

BCR sending cc 38 for no clear reason

2008-07-22 by stutterbrain

I have a preset (possibly affects all presets - have not tested),
which on occasion will pair each value with cc 38 - so e.g. Enc1 is
set to send cc 110, it will send cc110, and cc38.
Preset here:

If I select the encoder for editing on the BCR, change nothing, and
exit editing, cc38 is no longer sent.

This is a prblem, since this preset is sent to a midi translator which
looks for certain cc's, and cc38 is messing this up.

Anybody have any ideas?

Hi
I had a look at the preset .
Encoder 1 is set for CC 65 not 110 and on my BCR it is rock solid.
Encoder 45 is set to CC 110 so I can't match you problem to the preset
at that URL

I was wondering if you were pressing down on Enc1 occasionally and
sending out the CC38 from the switch part of Enc1. (I know that the
Button1 doesn't have CC38 in that preset but I not sure I got the
correct preset sysex)

Let me know how you get on

Like Royce, I've tried your preset: as far as I can see there's
nothing wrong with it, and my own BCR doesn't send any spurious CC38
using your preset.

Just a thought: I noticed that in your preset button 38 (i.e. button 6
on the top row) defines CC38. So this button might be physically
defective. You might try disabling this button: if you then no longer
get spurious CC38 messages, that might be it. (Or if you change this
button to CC39 and you indeed start getting spurious CC39 messages.)

On the other hand, the spurious CC38 messages might be an insert from
something in your MIDI setup (e.g. MIDI Yoke + MIDI-OX).

Hope this helps,
Mark.
