Taking the sides off.

Taking the sides off.

2008-08-08 by Jim Matheson

I would like to remove the sides of my BCF/BCR to replace them with some
slimmer ones. And possibly joint the 2 units in to one.

I thought just undoing the screws would do it but there seems to be a trick.
If anyone knows how, please pass it on if you have the time.

Best regards JM

It can be done!

I did this a while back, but it takes time and is a bit fiddly. You
need to remove all the insides till you are left with just the metal
frame.

Bolt the two halves together, then file down any remainig screw thread
so it is flush with the nut.

I used just 2 bolts, but you ned to make sure that they do not get in
the way of the bits of circuit board etc.

Once done, just put it all back together again.

The plastic bits where the join is need to be filed down to remove the
lip that protrudes a bit, this takes time as you need to do it slowly
and carefully.

You also need to file down the little feet on the sides.
Put a few felt pads on the bottom so it glides around my desk easily

All in all it took me about 4 hours to do.

If I find time I will take some snaps of the insides, but you can
probably work it out for yourself, its not hard to do
