New BCF Preset + Template for Ableton Live w/Mackie Control Emulation

New BCF Preset + Template for Ableton Live w/Mackie Control Emulation

2008-08-17 by Alejandro Frenkel

Dear all,
Just uploaded a new Preset + Template to control Ableton Live with BCF
2000. Mostly based on Kim's 4.1 preset, this is re-packaged for BCF.
The coolest thing is the template / overlay, very neat with Ableton
Live's looks. Attached it in the file as .ai and .jpg.
Hope you find it useful,
Regards,
Mago

Nice!

I thought there already was a mackie mode for BCF, built in?
I don't have one, alas.
BTW the name is Kip!

Cheers.

Kip, so sorry for the typo! yes there is one built-in mode in the BCF
but it is not too useful for ableton live... you need your 2 hands
most of the time...
The only thing I changed from your preset is the combination of the
"Option" and "Control" keys in one button instead of two... of course
feel free to incorporate this in your 4.2 version.... thanks for all
your work, it changed the way I use live,
Regards,
Mago

No prob.

huh? The "option and control" keys on one button?
Do tell.
How can you "get away" with that?
If it is on the same button, do you just program it to send both notes?
If so, aren't there commands that would get confused on that ?
Please elaborate, I suppose I could just download the preset and look,
but will you tell me please.
If it works I will "steal" it for 4.2.
Actually I have a 4.2 I use on the bcr, just have not had time to
upload it.
I was tweaking the resolutions and changed the layout.. moved the
vpots back up top and the faders on the bottom row of knobs.
Some other minor changes...

Re: New BCF Preset + Template for Ableton Live w/Mackie Control Emulation

hi kip,
yes, as far as i could see, one can use "control" with play clip and
paly scene and "option" for multiple select and arm... there is no
overlap, i.e. no one same button has a function with "option" AND
another function with "control". so i figured it was a waste of a
button to use 2 buttons for this (more so in the bcf, where i have
less "rotary buttons" than in the bcr). so with some trial and error,
i found a way to have the button send 2 "note on" commands when
pressed (vel = 127), and two "note-off" (vel=0,) commands when
released... don't know well now which parameters i tweaked, but it's
working. just copy and paste the button in the bc editor...
your changes very welcomed, i also have a bcr and sometimes use you
preset (though i mostly use it to control plug-ins, and the bcf to
control live).
thanks a lot again and regards,
mago
