The holy BCgrail...

The holy BCgrail...

2008-10-21 by arguz72

Hello people,
this is my first post on this list but not my first experience with
teh BCtools.
But still I am looking for the one.and.only solutions to really make
use of the BCF.
The status is the following :
I love java and I am pretty familiar with BCEdit...
I can virtually create and setup i like.
Still i really prefer the MC emulation mode over any self built one..
Why ?
Because a remote without visual feedback is worthless.
The MC mode is great for the virtual mixing desk
But..
The MC mode sucks balls for virtual instruments.
I really can not be bothered to step trough numerous pages of controls
just to find my filter and resonance, most used knobs on my other synths.
Its not the prob of the BCtools, the original MC has the same trouble.
So what I am looking for ?
Its easy...the mixing functions as they are now in the MC mode plus
the visual feedback through BCview AND a way to relocate the controls
of the VSTs to the first pages of the parameter stack.
If anyone has an idea how to do that I would be forever grateful.

kind regards
Sascha

Hi Sasha, in my experience you could do that with Asseca's mGUI
(www.asseca.com) - to make things simple, it resembles novation
automap: it wraps the plugin with, allows to create a new interface,
allows to change which parameter are shown to the host and in which
order, plus a bunch of other things....
The wrapped plugins of course appears as a vst plugin - a similar
approach is followed by MIDevice plugin control extension
(http://www.midevice.com/Products.aspx?ProductID=0), which has been
mentioned here already...

Using these apps, you could put the most important 8 parameters as
first 8 (also with mGUI you can change their name to something
sensible....)

Hope it helps! let me know if you need other information

Ciao,
Francesco

I tried mGUI, too, but I could not find any way to keep the plugins'
original gui. Or have I overseen something? I do not want to re-style
my plugins, I just want MIDI wrapper to control.

i'm in the office so right now i don't remember how to do that - have
you tried to download some of the examples?? for example, there is also
a Sampletank wrapper -specific for sampletank and designed to use the
mouse wheel with it, anyway it just shows the original GIU...there
should be also some BCR2000 skins (big ones, with a BCR like upper part
and the lower one showing the original gui) - i find them fantastic cos
they give you visual feedback...

Hi,
We didnt lost faith on the holy grial but on the while is the holy trial.

I posted time ago if internal midi translation can be done
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/bc2000/message/1517
I pressume that software tools the machine can be modified to do that
and not be dependent on a computer (i've been using Bome Midi
Translator for a long time, for me is one of the best aplications to
do friendship between a musician and a computer and get physical
distance, je (for example instruments working as SO interface
keyboard, mouse).

I hope you can help.

i read your old post - i think it can be done if you program the bcr
with BCReditor (see the files section) + reading some BC documentation
(also in the files section)....if you use the editor you can assign a
SYSEX string to a knob - a sysex string can be whatever you like, in
your case TWO different messages - i think that if one is the incoming
one and the other is the translated one....the incoming one will
"move" the knob and the second will be put out (as with
feedback)...have a search here in the forum, there are many posts
about this stuff (and don't forget the documentation in the files section)
