DSI Tetra presets for bcr2000

DSI Tetra presets for bcr2000

2010-02-04 by anton jawdokimov

HI,
Im new to this group, ive joined because id like to share some groovey
presets ive made for the dsi Tetra analog synth,
its taken me quite a while to program every parameter correctly, using the
.tx method so that the buttons work correctly, and also adjusting the
correct .resolution for many parameters :)
anyway, its nearly done now, just some tweaking on the sequencers section!

ok cheers
Anton

Anton,

Fabulous. That's very strange as I was just this morning searching around to see if anyone has attempted to do this. I'm thinking about buying a Tetra this week.
How's it working for you? Do you get any visual parameter feedback on the dials?
When I have purchased my tetra, may I get a copy of your preset?
I would like to keep in touch and share any improvements/adjustments I make.
You have effectively saved yourself £500 and created a pseudo prophet8, I guess.

Hi Dan
of course your welcome to it! Ive even made some nice colour coded printouts to help get your head around it,
regarding visual feedback, maybe some one here can awnser,
you get visual feedback immediately after moving a controller, and you can see the last value on the tetra small lcd, so it works, but ive been trying to get the tetra to dump all parameter values to the bcr2000, so far no luck here, was this possible with other dave smith instruments?
ive used the request data function on the bcr and have requested program edit buffers (i actually tried most of the tetras request sysex codes) any knowledge or pointers here would be great!
does the bcr20000 even understand this or does it just want staright up CC or something?
thanks
Anton

Hello, I'm new to the group as well. I joined because I picked up a BCR and Tetra last week. Anton, I found your template on your page (discorockers, I assume you're the same Anton) through google. Nice to see you're here too =) Thanks so much for all your hard work in creating the template. One question: What is everyone using to load and edit templates? I tried the BCREdit program from Behringer, but it is still early beta and I got a timeout error every time I went to load the presets from my computer to the unit.

Ok, so I used the sysex loader from the files section to the left and it worked perfectly. Now I'm having trouble getting it to talk to the tetra. I'm using Live 8. My goal is to get my oxygen8 to go into the BCR and out to the tetra. I've tried a lot of settings but it seems my bcr doesn't want to send andything

UPDATE: I can get the BCR to control the Tetr4, but only in standalone mode. With USB mode I can't get any MIDI data out of the BCR. I think the issue is in Ableton, but I haven't found anything about it so far... Any help would be appreciated =) I've got to get some sleep!

Like you I also recently acquired a BCR, with the sole purpose of controlling my JX-3P and JX-8P, of which I just uploaded my templates. I tried the various editors and found the BC Manager to be the most flexible, especially if you have Sysex to program. It's not always the most logical program to work with, but once you find your way around it it allows you to do almost anything. A very good feature is that the copy/paste functionality is implemented very well, so you can test presets by copying them to a new program number without destroying the one that does it's thing already but just needs a little tweaking. File handling is a bit odd (for example: you can't import a sysex file directly to a "preset slot", but you can import it to a complete setup and then copy it to the preset slot you want).
You can find it here:
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/bc2000/files/Applications/BC%20Manager/

A bit of a pain with programming the BCR for MIDI synths is that you have to switch between USB Mode 1 for programming and Standalone Mode 1 for testing all the time. Every time you switch to Standalone Mode, you have to restart the BC Manager 'cause it 'lost the connection' to the BCR. Fortunately there's a menu option that restarts the program.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
