BCF2000 +Ableton + Mackie Emulation encoder speed

BCF2000 +Ableton + Mackie Emulation encoder speed

How do i increase the speed of the encoders on the bcf2000?

Running firmware 1.10. Ableton 8.2. OSX 10.6.4

Is the only way to do it via custom preset?

I've been reading all about this in about 20 different forums and I can't seem to figure this out. Thanks in advance.

Encoder resolutions have been discussed several times in this forum, so you may try searching the message archive.

If I remember correctly, Ableton Live (unlike e.g. Propellerhead Reason) doesn't actively configure the BCF; if this is so, you can (indeed: must) set up a preset on the BCF manually.
In any case you can't change encoder resolutions in the BCF's Mackie emulation modes ("MC C" etc.).

Under Windows, creating a preset with custom encoder resolutions is relatively easy, i.e. via Royce's BCn2000 Script Editor or my BC Manager.
On a Mac, you could try running either of these Windows programs in a virtual machine (guest OS), or you could first create the preset's syx file on a Windows machine and then upload this file to the BCF from your Mac by means of a syx uploader.

For all the technical details of custom resolutions, see section 17.3 of "BC MIDI Implementation.pdf", available from my website at http://home.kpn.nl/f2hmjvandenberg281/ .

Hope this helps,
Mark.
