BCF problems

BCF problems

2007-02-25 by Geoff Wood

XP SP2, Nforce 2 chipset. USB2 connection.

Have updated BCF firmware to V1.10 successfully (I think ! - Well it boots
up and says 1.10, and boots into MC-C OK...). Have BCF V1.1.1.1 driver
installed.

Setting it as the MIDI device, and generic Mackie Control in Vegas seems OK
( Vegas can see the BCF MIDI device), but sliders do not respond.

What makes me think something is wrong in the device driver side of things
is that if I start BCFView after turning on BCF in MC-C mode, I can select
the BCF in the BCView window, but only get the blue rectangle displayed -
never anything more. With nothing else running. And when I hit 'Exit' I
invariably BSOD with something like error in usboci.sys .

Any ideas ?

And isn't the BCF user manual the worst manual in the world ?!!!!

Is it normal that after switching on in MC-C mode, that it should thereafter
always power up in that mode WITHOUT the keypress ?

Also anybody had IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL BSODs in usbohci.sys ? And found a
cause/solution ?

Yes, this is perfectly normal. By using the keypress+switchon, the
corresponding setting for the BCF is chosen and stored.

This is not a bug, but a feature! I personally always use the BCF for
Mackie Control, so I do not have to remember this anymore when
switching on all my MIDI gear with a single masterswitch.
