convert sysex to nrpn help

2014-12-13 by Ido Feiler

Hi everyone
i need some help to figure out how to convert this sysex F0 43 10 12 27 00 f7 to nrpn in order to use it in bcr2000 ( this is for yamaha tx81z )
i have read tons of stuff over the last few days and I'm starting to have a feeling that maybe i didn't get something
why there is nowhere a simple explanation to this?
i don't want to use bc editor or any other software
of course i can route the bcr2000 to bome and from there to the tx81z but i just look for a simple explanation what should be the numbers given this sysex to enter to some knob

Thank you
ps
i have read "almost" everything :) and i saw that there is patches for tx81z but just a simple convert would be great

thanks again

Simple answer...the BC won't convert Midi messages.
MidiOx will, but not sysex to NRPN.
Bome will.

BUT the BC can be programmed to output a sysex string like F0 43 10 12 27 val f7 (I assume the second last byte is the value)
eg the BC output
F0 43 10 12 27 00 F7
F0 43 10 12 27 01 F7
F0 43 10 12 27 02 F7
etc

when the encoder is turned.

It's not that hard with Mark's editor. You need to used the 'Custom Output' to enter
F0 43 10 12 27 val0.6 F7
and set up the range.

All the best
Royce

Thank you Royce
Can i program the bc without any software? just by setting parameters of a knob?
cause after all, even if i do use software to set parameters, eventually can use the bc to control the tx81z without computer right? and the bc knob has the info how to send the data...or im wrong?

if the answer is yes and its not too much to ask , could you please write some walk through to achieve this "simple" task

again, thank you

Yes, but you can only program a limited number of things.
To access the full power of the BC you need to remotely program it with a computer.

Once programmed you can save the patch into one of the 32 memory locations and recall it on stage to control the tx81z without a computer.

When you program patch, I always find it hard to decide what is the most usable layout of parameters for the synth I want to control.

As I recall, there were a few patches in the file section for 4 op synths.

The sysex is very similar for all of the 4op synths so even if there isn't one for the tx81z you should download some of the other 4op patches to see if any work.
To help you out with the layout you might also like to look at what I have been doing with my TQ5 (although it does involve having a computer hooked up in between)

BCR<=>TQ5 is the first version and has a short video

BCR<=>TQ5 II is the latest version of the software.
