splitting midi output

splitting midi output

2015-01-17 by nick@...

Sorry to be asking so many questions, but at some point, it will do as I want, hopefully!

I'm sending a midi patch change pedal into the BCR and the output is sent via usb to the laptop. Is it possible to send BCR data and pedal data to separate outputs down the one usb cable?

In ableton, I need remote tracking ON for the BCR but OFF for the foot pedal so it would be helpful if the two midi streams could be separated.

My understanding from the manual is that you only get port 2 if you send the output from the midi out on the BCR to the computer via a separate cable.

Midi In on the BC is the data from the Midi port and the BC data usually merged, so no, there is no mode on the BC that has a Midi in separate from the BC.

I would set up the BC In as both Track and Remote.
If Live sends the BC a PC message, as long as it is on a different channel to the BC setting, the BC will ignore it. If it is a problem change the BC's Midi channel.

If this still doesn't fix you problem you can always use MidiOx and MidiYoke to filter out the returned PC messages.

If you are still in trouble let me know exactly what you are trying to do.

All the best
