BCR goes Sylenth

BCR goes Sylenth

2016-06-03 by danielhesse1@...

My Sylenth 1 has turned into a hardware synthesizer: I did a full mapping (250 parameters) with a BCR. Everything on knobs and buttons, no mouse needed. Implementation via NRPNs, configuration saved directly in Sylenth (and BCR obviously), so everything directly available at start up, host automation not touched (but of course still usable). Double the fun now, getting lost in sound tweaking

Do you use Sylenth1 in standalone or in your Daw?
I did the same mappings but was limited to cc numbers. Layout on 2xbcr2000. Are you willing to share your template daniel?

Jan

Fantastic work!
I'd love a copy if you're going to make it available anywhere.

Hi Jan,
I am using it in a host that correctly transmits NRPN, in my case Mainstage (which I have linked into Ableton). (Note: Ableton does not work yet, because it cannot handle NRPNs correctly plus it does not save the midi configuration per plug-in. Ableton told they are going to fix that ... ).
I am happy to share the files (will pull them together during the next days and then send them to you). I prefer personal sharing (i.e. sending via e-mail) and feedback rather than just posting it in some file folder. So anybody who is interested, please drop me a message.

Best,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Do you have any link to redirect me where it is explained how to configure the BCF/BCF2000 with NRPN (=14 bit resolution, right ?). I am really struggling now :(
Thank you

Hi there Daniel,

Thanx for the offer. I used my template in Cubase5 and it was spread on 2 BCR's but only with cc's as I mentioned before. In the meantime I switched to Reaper. It can handle NRPN as described in this thread: MIDI NRPNs and Reaper - Cockos Confederated Forums

So if I understand you right, you use a sysex file on the BCR2000 and nothing more as a midiconfig file for Sylenth?

Greetings,

Jan

Hi Rastavibzz, just check the BCR manual. You just select NRPN rather than CC when configuring an encoder. NRPN does not need to be 14bit, you can set the range as well. I usually keep it at 0-127 (=7bit), since the BCR encoders do not have a high resolution anyways. So if you set them to 14bit, it works, but you turn the knob... and turn.... an turn ...and turn till you reach the max value ;-)
Best regards,Daniel

I'd like to try your Sylenth 1 + BCR2000 mapping please.

Hi Jan here,

i have to dissapoint you. I got your message on my phone and i was not aware on which post u were answering. I am not the threadstarter, it is Daniel and he left yahoo 2 weeks ago. He gave me the preset a long time ago but i deleted it because it was for ableton. I made my own preset for Sylenth to use in Reaper. I can only deliver that. Is it not in the file section? I think so, otherwise i can send you.

Jan

I would like to check that file out for sure, is it something you can simply attach?

Hi Jan here,

i have to dissapoint you. I got your message on my phone and i was not aware on which post u were answering. I am not the threadstarter, it is Daniel and he left yahoo 2 weeks ago. He gave me the preset a long time ago but i deleted it because it was for ableton. I made my own preset for Sylenth to use in Reaper. I can only deliver that. Is it not in the file section? I think so, otherwise i can send you.

Jan

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
