Intro and questions

2017-08-11 by jimh54@...

Hello,

I just got my BCR2000 today. I have no experience with controllers like this at all. So I have a couple of questions.

1) how do you install the 64 bit drivers i windows 10?

2) How do I tell if it even send/receives midi? I tried midiox, and it can see the unit but does not receive any midi information when I turn the encoders.

I have already set it as U-1 mode on Ch 1. other than that I don't know what to do.

I have only tried it in usb mode. And I does light up and allow me to change modes so I assume it works but I want to verify because I bought it from ebay and will need to return it if it is faulty.

Thanks

I don't have Win10 (I stuck with Win7), and I don't know if there are specific USB drivers. You might be able to install others in compatibility mode, if they still have that.

I get confused by MIDI-OX, quite easily. Probably because I don't use it very much. It's easy to get it showing nothing by not setting things as it needs them set.

First, go to MIDI Devices on the Options menu. You need to select the input (click on it). If it's not there, and was plugged in before you started MIDI OX, then something is wrong. If you plugged it in after starting MIDI OX, you'll have to close down MIDI OX and start it up again.

Next, on the Window menu, choose:

2 Monitor Input

After that, you should hopefully see results from turning knobs. If you have a USB MIDI interface that works, you can try it with MIDI cables, of course, though that won't tell you if the USB socket is working.

I wouldn't be too surprised if there were driver problems with Win10. I've had to stop using my two old tin box MIDIsport 2x2s with Win7, because it just won't recognise them any more. I had one working for about a day, then there was a Blue Screen Of Death, when I unplugged it. Since then, nothing.

Still, if you can use the BCR via another device, that might be enough.

I'm using Windows 10, with a USB cable from the BCR.. MidiOx needs to be assigned to see the BCR.

I picked up a BC2000 last year and it took a while for me to figure out how to configure it in Cubase.

MIDI-OX: see the MIDI input coming to your PC
