MKS-50 fail but Cubase and VST Success`

I originally bought my BCR2000 with hope of using it as controller for my Roland MKS-50 Alpha Juno hardware synth.
Nothing online, or here, seemed to help me get it to work successfully and I eventually gave up and sold the MKS-50 leaving me with the BCR2000 sitting around collecting dust.
As I was digging deeper into Cubase I thought I would see about using the BCR2000 for DAW control. Again I encountered challenges. There seems to be very little, correct, information on how to properly use the BCR with Cubase. A lot of things point to using the Mackie MCU protocol - what a red herring that is. Finally I found some pointers to Cubase's Generic Remote and, voila, it works great! I am able to control nearly anything in Cubase. I have maps for synths, audio effects/processors and of course DAW control. All this using only 2 BCR presets (stock preset Controls Only and a slightly modded version of it).
It is easy enough creating presets for stand alone soft synths but I prefer dealing with them all within the DAW environment.
