Hi all!

The NTE devices *are* really spotty but I've had about a 50% success
rate with the NTE4006. Also tested in my circuit were A and B series
RCA and TI units. The success rate was much better (though I only had
6 to test then) but there's no guarantee that any one device will
work. It would be prudent to use a socket for this IC, buy extra
4006's and test what you've got. In this application, no one IC will
*sound* better. Some might not tolerate super-low clock speeds but
I've yet to have one drop out.

To my annoyance, every distributor I've contacted that claimed to have
4006 IC's has not been able to find their stock. What a shock. I'll
keep looking for a supply, but I don't have any qualms about buying
the NTE's and testing.
