checked all the transistors and everything is in the way the board shows them to be, with the tabs pointing the right way. i am using the specific transistors that the site says to use with the metal caps. the other thing i am thinking about is that i am powering it via 2 9v batteries that i've connected in both series and parallel. neither made a differance. originally i connected them in parallel with the pos. lead connecting to the +ve pad, the pos. of the second battery and the neg. of the first going to the 0v pad, and the neg. of the second going to the -ve pad. now i have both pos. leads going to the +ve and the neg, going to the -ve and a jumper going form the ground to -ve pads. sorry if this was all a stupid rookie mistake and have wasted all your time. if i can get this working, it is intended for a standalone rack unit. i am using the batteries more for testing purposes before i get a power supply. i've put up some pix on my website to see if anyone can tell me if i put something in wrong. sorry if some are a little blurry, but i am using a new camera and still getting use to it. anyway, the site is http://www.havensole.com/steinervcf/ please let me know if there are any problems with the pix. they are really high res so they can take a bit to d/l. if they are too small, just rightclick and d/l them so they can pop up extremely huge. thanks again to everyone.

Check your transistors are in the right way around. If you have used a
plastic variety, they may well be backwards. Also make sure you have the
right sort in the right spot, and that your diodes are all facing the right way.

ect, and still nothing. i am getting a very very faint signal coming
through, but it doesn't apear that the cutoff or res knobs do anything and
it seems kinda distorted. if anyone can help, please send me something. i
can up some high res pix of the board if you think that might help.
