Can someone direct me to a more general synth discussion group? I
signed up for a couple of the yahoo groups discussions, and have been
awaiting activation for a week.
Ive got a few general questions. While Im waiting for my CGS kits to
get here, Im trying to decide what else I need to get my synth started.
I guess I will ask them here. If you dont want to take this forum too
off toppic, just direct me to somewhere that I might find help. Thanks!
My beginner questions are...
What is the difference between linear and expo VCA. I understand what
linear and exponential mean, but I can't imagine how that effects the
sound. Does it adjust more slowly at first, then quickly cut off
towards the end of the range? Why would I want that, instead of
relying on the EG to shape the sound.
I was looking somewhere, I think Blacet. He's got a dual linear, and
a quad expo vca's.
I have never used an analog clock source. Im guessing it is not the
same thing as DIN sync (that analog sequencers and drum machines use).
My MIDI-CV converter does DIN sync. How do I sync the analog clock
to my midi gear? If the analog clock is just a pulse of the clock
rate (like 2 pulses a second for 120 bpm) can I just play a note on
every beat and use the trigger out of my midi-cv as the clock?
And last...
Does anyone know of some good sources for VC LFO or EG kits or plans?
I don't think Im up for designing my own PCB off a schematic, but if
someone has the PCB layout made, I can print it and etch a PCB.
