Hi all,
I just built my digital noise and the 4046 keeps smoking when I plug it in, after getting hot within the first couple seconds of being on. I have check for shorts, wiring issues and the like with no discoveries. Any ideas?
When using an external clock the unit is fine. Something strange though; the LED for DS 1 only lights up when I plug a jack into the output socket. Weird. DS 2 LED flashes just fine with no jacks plugged in.
I can unplug the 4046 and the module still works with an external clock. I know the issue is only with the clock section, but the "lighting only when a jack is plugged in" activity of DS 1 LED makes me wonder about other problems.
As for the GND wiring, I used the GND PCB point by the CV and CLK PCB points to ground the jacks and speed pot. Should I be using the GND points by DS1 specifically for something. As it stands, they are unused.
Thanks for any help and advice.
