Re: Test Calibration Synthacon filter Panther.

2007-08-02 by Laurie Biddulph

Hi Oscar,

Glad that is sorted out.

First of all we will attack the noise problem. This is a well documented
problem and there is a small error on the pcb which you need to look at (I
thought I had already advised you of this, but so many things happening
lately). Anyway, at one end of the board is a resistor and capacitor (R210
and C207). Turn the board so that they are nearest to you and the pots are
on your left. You need to desolder the right-hand leg of the resistor and
the left-hand leg of the capacitor and then join these 2 legs together in
mid air. This should resolve the noise problem.

Now for the other matter. Except for the error above, I have tried to stay
as close to Ken's circuit as possible. I would recommend a quick visit to
his website and pop in to the CGS35 module (not the CGS35E). Towards the end
of the page is some feedback from another customer who has made adjustments
to some of the values to improve the control. It would be worth studying
them and possibly trying them out. I have been so busy lately, especially
with getting the front panels for these modules organised, that I haven't
had any time to spend on other tasks. One of those tasks is to try out the
aforementioned changes and see how they work. If they do work as well as
indicated then I will be adapting the CGS735 circuit to suit. If you do
experiment with and get the results you expected then please let me know and
I will try and speed up the check at my end.

Best Regards

Thanks Laurie.

I saw that I made an error, I put the trimpot resistors in wrong
places. I have already fixed this.

I have been able to calibrate the filter, but the potentiometer of
frequency only covers from 40 hz to 1Khz. If I increase the trimpot,
I lose low frequencies, for example I can obtain from 100 hz to 2Khz.

Is it normal ? Can I obtain a wider range of frequencies?

Also i have noticed noise when I turn the resonance pot.

Is it normal?

Many thanks and Best Regards
