OT: clock for sequencer, flipflop vs. 555

2007-09-25 by Jeff Foster

Hi Folks,
I am getting around to building the gate seq as an "analog sequencer".
I am adding an on-board clock and have a few questions. I don't want
to use a square wave because then the on and off times are the same.
I need a variable on off clock.
I think I can use a 555 timer with pots on R1 and R2 ( as seen in most
digrams on the web) as a pulse with controlled clock. OR I could use
a flip floop with two osc driving the data and Clk. inputs (cd4013).
This would control the on and off cycle as well.

anyone have a thought on which is easier or better? I want to be able
to control the gate on and off times.

thanks for any suggestions,
Jeff
