That's what I was wondering - but I was thinking just 4 x 8. One
could normalize the first clock jack input to each of the slave
boards, so you'd have 4 rows synched by default, but that could be
overridden.

P1 could advance the 5th switch that selects from the outputs of the
4 rows. The row outputs could also be available separately, so you
could run it as 4 completely independent switches or in various
combinations.

I'll need to think on this one a while and figure out panel (s) and
wiring.
