Indeed I have built an Infinite Melody. It is in a custom Schaeffer panel
in my MOTM system. I enhanced the module by adding an internal fast clock
and a white noise source. I have the REV0 board and it works fine. It
took me a while to understand what happens when you switch between 1/f and
random. Which is that the Advance clock causes output transitions on the
opposite phase. There are also 1/2 as many transitions in 1/f mode, but
that is OK. I have driven three VCOs off the three fixed output and the
effect is quite pleasing. I have two Wiard/Blacet Miniwaves, which I
sometimes use for scale quantizing the outputs of the Infinite Melody.
I am striving toward something like Brian Eno's "auto poetic" type of
music. I don't use any sort on input device other than the pots and
switches on my synth. The Infinite Melody fits in well with this approach.
If you are building a special box with the IM module, consider including
Ken's Diatonic Converter.
