Too quiet here lately!

Too quiet here lately!

2002-03-31 by catgirlparadise

Hi all,

I thought I'd try break the silence. I'd be interested in hearing what
ideas people have for modules that are not available anywhere else,
for possible future inspiration.

Also, would people be interested in pre-assembled, tested PCBs, or
completed modules?

There is a preconstructed mega psycho in the works, on a 2 unit rack
panel. Only one or two of these will be available, at a price of
around US$300. Would there be any interest in these?

I am also comtemplating an "expander" type panel, 7" (4 units) high,
by 17 inches wide (rack case without mounting ears). It would include
several of my existing designs, as well as some new things I have in
the works.

Ken

1)Through Zero VCO.
2)VCA based on Electronotes GLAP.
3)Buchla 259 VCO
4)BJ 4046 based VCO

Hi,

I'd like to see some +/-15V tube modules, some more drum modules (with cv controls for pitch & sweep ...) & a parametric equalizer witch voltage controlled boost/cut.

Cheers

Eugenio

1) Shepard Function Generator: 8 triangle waves and 8 sines, each one
offset by 45 degrees. Doepfer makes one, but it also has an
unnecessary Midi mode, and converting to a larger front panel would
strictly suck. A Rate knob and/or cv would be nice.

2) Eprom-switcher daughter board. Use links to change eprom style
(the same style as the original, though -- or maybe not), and insert
a switch where needed for that style. I'm not 100% sure if this would
be as configurable as I'd imagine, but maybe. Then you could use it
on CGS WaveBanks, DrumTraks, Linn Drums, etc.

As for preconfigured modules: I prefer to build from the pcb. My
parts stock is getting pretty huge, and I like to build.

Thanks Ken!

Analog shift register with at least 4 shift outputs. I think an ASR would
be very useful, not just for driving vco's but for other cv routing. The
only available module that I know of is from Serge, and J. Haible has a
circuit schematic. For me, an available pcb would be great, especially
since I have not yet been successful at implementing JH's schematic.

I may be interested in pre-assembled & tests pcb's. Because I'm fitting
modules into the MOTM style panels, probably not completed modules. It
would depend on several factors: my perceived difficulty in properly
assembling the pcb (e.g., ordering the correct parts - this aspect of the
process almost always drives me crazy, especially since I have little
confidence in my ability to substitute parts), the current amount
of time I have available to assemble a module, and cost. (Sorry, Ken, this
probably doesn't help you much).

I *probably* would not be interested the latter two above - not because
they would not be interesting and worthwhile, but I'm basically 'modular
possessed' and intend to concentrate on diversifying my modular.

Thanks for asking us. It is nice to be able to express our opinions, Jeff

i'd be interested in a through zero VCO.
so, what's a VCA based on Electronotes GLAP?? hell, what is GLAP??
i also like jeff's idea 'bout the ASR. dyin' to play with one...
i prefer pcb's. it's much nicer to spend $20 now on a gate seq, an'
worry later 'bout findin' money for decent switches...
