a question of voltage

a question of voltage

2005-04-22 by sci700

Hello, I'm wondering which of the CGS-modules will work with +-12v (with no or
minor mods(what mods..?)) and which must have +-15v?

I'm asking because the rest of my DIY-stuff use +-12v and it's also nice to be able to
put DIY-modules into the Doepfer system if i want to.

(I just discovered the CGS-stuff and I built the Simple Wave Folder today to try it out
and it sounds amazing!)

kind regards /Daniel

Most should work without modification. The one that will need modification
for sure is the CGS48. This involves replacing a 20 resistor with a 14k
resistor to maintain a 5V reference.

The first thing you need to do is work out what voltages the AS and
Curetronics supplies put out.

If they are +/-15V, all you need is to wire up an adapter cable. If they are
+/-12V, they should work, but the occasional module will need modification
(VCO, Bintic).
If they are not one of the above voltages, forget it.

can i use a 15k instead of a 14k when modding for 12volt operation?

You could, but it will result in a waveform that is a little over 5V. I don't see it causing any real problems though.
