CGS VCOs and mounting dimensions?

CGS VCOs and mounting dimensions?

2005-11-01 by brownchonald

Will a Ken Stone PCB fit flat, behind a MOTM 1U panel?

I'm just wondering, because I'm figuring out how I will mount the VCO
PCB that I'm working on.

Thanks,
Cole

I haven't done the VCO, but the Ken Stone PCBs I have seen vary quite a bit
in size, so I don't think that one can make a general statement one way or
the other regarding their fit behind a 1U panel.

FWIW, I like mounting my PCBs on threaded standoffs attached to the rear of
the panel with Liquid Steel epoxy. See my website, www.studionebula.com, for
photos of a CGS Digital Noise, Wave Multiplier, and Steiner filter built in
this manner.

Adam, where do you get these threaded stand offs, Liquid Steel epoxy,
nuts and screws?

I'm very interested. This might be a solution to my problem.

Unless you plan to subject your modules to violent shocks, I
think that you could use a single L-shaped piece of metal
instead of a standoff, L and screw. More ASCII art ?

That's kind of what I do.

All of the hardware came from Digi-Key. I bought the epoxy at a local
hardware store.

Yes, that would work also. One could cut the Ls from aluminum angle stock,
which would be pretty easy. Maybe I'll try that next time.
