VCO low output question

VCO low output question

2006-01-20 by jtmcnc

I've been lurking around here for awhile - and I have just finished building a steiner filter in
banana format (successfully!) but am having less luck with the VCO.

I am getting an extremely low output from both the saw and sine, and an almost inaudible
signal from the square - all the waveforms sound the same.

The strangest thing is that the volume of the sine output slowly decreases even further once
its powered on (from approx. 3.5V to .7V on the sine wave output). Measuring at the AC
coupled saw output the voltage steadily decreases to almost nothing while the sound remains
the same - - - now I'm thinking though that the sound I am hearing is somehow just leaking
through...

I have "whacked in" (as ken says) 2 2n3904s as a temporary substitute for the lm394 - not
sure if that could be part of the culprit.

Any suggestions?

Does the volume get louder at lower frequencies. (i.e. start turning your
tune knob all the way down). Just curious. I had a similar problem once.
