UK Power Supply?

UK Power Supply?

2006-06-25 by Future Image

Hi,
I'm very interested in building the modular kits that Elby Designs
supplies, but how will I power them up here in the UK? Can I use the
CGS14 15V power supply to power must of the important modules (VCO,
VCF, VCA, LFO, Envelope, etc.)?

Hi,

Ken's CGS14 is a common low-cost power supply and will happily run the modules listed.
If you want to go for a slightly larger unit that will support an extensive number of additional modules and uses a higher quality circuit then you should look at my PSU-2 (http://www.elby-design.com/power/psu2-about.htm).

Best Regards

Ok, just looking at your MIDI-CV converter, will I need the PSU-2 for
that to supply 15V or does the PCB already have a regulator on there?
I'd like to have the MIDI-CV as an "external" module so I can take it
anywhere to use with any analog synth.

Re: UK Power Supply?

Hi,

Both my MIDI-CV and PolyDAC(X) MIDI Converters require a stabilised +/-15V
DC supply. Ken's CGS14 will work fine with these boards. Similarly so will
my PSU-1.

Please note that both the CGS14 and PSU-1 require a transformer supply for
operation (typically 36VAC centre-tapped) although both units can also be
operated from a suitable DC power supply (nominally +/- 22VDC).

Best Regards
