Sub-oscillator question

Sub-oscillator question

2006-07-11 by betweenpie

I have just completed a sub-oscillator/harmonic sequencer kit from Elby.
All inputs, outputs and pots function and/or alter the sound.

However, I think the 4017 may be kaput, as nothing comes through when
point B is connected to C (A works fine), and /2, /3, /5 or COM are
connected.

I have checked all lines and points leading to the chip and they are
all good.

Can anyone think of another cause outside of a faulty 4017 before I
order a new chip?

Otherwise the machine is sweet...thanks

I found that some makes of 4017 (ST Micro to be specific) do not clock
well at low frequencies. Try a Texas Instruments 4017 and see if it
makes a difference. Hopefully you socketted the IC.

I was just about to order the TI4017 from Mouser, as it turns out -
a lucky guess on my part. And, yep, I did socket.
