Digital Noise - CD4006
2006-07-14 by Michael
So I finally got my Digital Noise module wired up (after like a year).
I have 2 cd4006 chips, one from RCA and one from NTE.
I put in the RCA chip first, it creates oscillation instead of noise.
So I swapped it out for the NTE and it worked great... for 2 minutes.
Then it got really hot and stopped working. It was inserted correctly.
It was functioning exactly the way it should have, the noise sounded
right, it got crunchy at lower freq., etc.
I assume the NTE was just a bad chip. The RCA still works the same,
and doesn't get hot. I double checked for solder joints anyways and
there are none. Plus I assume because the RCA 'works' kinda it's not
an issue like that. Does this seem like it's a bad chip problem like I
think it is?
Does anyone have a handful of cd4006's I can buy via paypal so I can
get this thing working?
If they are pre-tested in a cgs noise module that would be even more
awesome but that may be expecting too much :)
Thanks a lot for the help,
- Mike
