Stick a small resistor in series with each of the 2 power rails (+ve
and -ve) and measur the voltage drop across them. Apply Ohms Law and
Bobs'your uncle.
For example, lets assume the module draws 10mA in each rail. If you put a
10R resistor in each rail then you would expect to see approximatley 100mV
across each resistor. You should try and keep the resistor as small as
possible (say 1R) but this will mean that the voltage drop will be
proportinately smaller (10mV in this case). The choice will depend upon how
good your meter is.
Of course if you do have a decent meter, then it will have DC mA anyway so
simply put the negative probe to the positive pin of the boards power rail.
Connect the the positive probe to a suitable power supply i.e. the meter is
now in series with the power rail. You will only be able to measure one rail
at a time so the other rail should be wired up as normal.
