New York area synth builders?

New York area synth builders?

2006-09-10 by Avery Brooks

anyone here in the new york area? anywhere in the 5 boroughs?

i'm trying to get people together to do some DIY synth building. i
was inspired by a group in Melbourne doing this. they get together to
work on kits on a regular basis, for moral support, sharing of
information and fun.

anyway, let me know if you're interested!

Hey there. I just moved to NYC (Alphabet City). I'm kinda new to SDIY, although I'm about
75% through an EFM Wildcat and planning to take on some CGS modules when I get that
one done.

Btw, I'd like to know if there are any good electronic parts stores in Manhattan other than
Radio Shack!

I've tried all the ones listed as such in the phone book, but they're actually either
consumer retail (built camera's, stereos, etc) or are for contractors doing electrical
construction for the home. I found this out when I needed one simple cap to finish a
module, and ended up having to wait a week because I had to order it online!

Anyway, please keep me posted if anything's happening in NY ;)

There is a place on Canal that i buy my emergency parts from... It is called
269 electronics. It is at 269 Canal Street, near the N, R, W, J stop. It is
in the back of one of those Chinese mini mall/ booth things that sell jewelry
and ipods.

Hi Avery,

I live in Brooklyn and am working on a homebuilt modular. I love the
idea of having a NYC-area Synth Building Group. I too have thought
about getting a meeting together. Getting this message out the sdiy
and motm lists would probably help get some more people.

Stay in touch,
