To all of the Cynare builders out there ......

To all of the Cynare builders out there ......

2006-10-20 by Rykhaard D.A.M.I.A.N.

What values of resistors have you found to be the most useable, for
the 6 'voices' in the Cynare?
I'll have mine hooked up completely before work tomorrow afternoon,
but I thought I'd ask what others have found to be useful values. :)

I'm going with a 100k pot, for each of the voices. (Only having 3 x
2.2 megs, that I'm reserving for my next ADSR EG).
The values I've chosen thus farly, for checking them out are:

10k
22k
51k

30k
120k
270k

I figured, with the 100k pots, there would be some overlapping,
handily enough. (From my experiences in building the Shimmer section
ONLY in my modular)

I'm wide open to other's advices though. :)

ALso - additional advices as to values that would be more useable
towards, Snare drums, or Hihats, as I'll definately be ordering at
least 1 more Cynare. :D

Thanks for any help. :)

Use 1k resistors - this will give you 100 to 1 ratio across the sweep of the
pots. Increase the 10n capacitors to 100n to bring the frequency back to
something usable. Watch the 74C14 doesn't get too hot. It shouldn't get hot
at all, but if it does, increase the 1k resistors to 2k2 or 3k3.

Ooops. Please pardon the half-awake braindeath. :O I just restored a
crashed Firefox 2 (preview) session, and saw a message to the list sitting
in 'Draft' (unsent). I immediately brought it up and clicked on 'Send'
without checking to see that it were only a partial message. :O Duhh.

Mmmm. I dont have any Poly's / Mica / Film caps at 0.1uF though. :( Would
the instabilities of ceramics, be ok in this type of scenario or too
unreliable?

Please do pardon my

Update: hoping I'm doing math correctly. ;)

K. With the Poly caps that I have available, and considering your
temperature concerns for my CD40106 - I've gone with 0.047uF (47nF) as I
don't have any non-ceramic 0.1uFs with 2200r resistors.

With Frequency = 1/(R*C) that gives me about 206hz to 9600hz of range. That
should be sufficient with my ear's range to get an idea - no?
Working with this - I'll be heading back to changing the resistor /
capacitor values in my Shimmer module in my modular as well - if I did my
math above, correctly. ;)

(1 / (2200r * 0.000000047F) to 1 / (102200r * 0.000000047F))
