CGS48 VCO Pots..

CGS48 VCO Pots..

2007-04-29 by Mickey Finn

Okay, Just finishing wiring up the front panel and pots- A few questions on the wiring of the
pots- I based my front panel on the Elby CGS48 panel http://www.elby-designs.com/ken-
stone/cgs48-fpd.pdf and here are my questions:

-What are the "Processor Pots" 1 + 2? are they the PWM and the FM AC+DC pots? if so, there
are 3?
-How do I wire the CV1 Pot, is it in series or connected with the CV1 jack?
-How do I wire the Sub CV Pot, is it in series or connected with the Sub CV jack?
-How do I wire the Shape CV Pot, is it in series or connected with the shape CV jack?

Thanks in advance!

Coleman.

The Processor is the section at the top of the VCO schematic. It looks
as tho the Elby panel allows for just one CV Processor pot.
wire the CV1 jack to the centre pin of the CV1 pot. The outer pins go
to PCCW and PCW on the PCB. This is quite different from the norm but
an excellent feature of this VCO.
The FM AC&DC and PWM pots are all connected to their respective jacks,
wire to an outer tab, the other outer tab/pin of the pot goes o
ground. The centre tab is connected to the PCB.

Sub Cv jack to outer pin of Sub CV pot, centre pin to CVS on PCB,
other outer pin to ground.

in series, same as for the SUB CV, wire the centre pin to SHAPE CV

This is my interpretation of the ELby panel - i haven't actually used
this panel. Best check with Laurie if you are not sure.

Hi,

First of I should point out that this is NOT an Elby Designs file. I have
posted a number of FPD files that were found on other sites simply as
examples of panel layouts because there are very few examples provided by
Ken himself. I have, tonight, removed these from the website (although they
are still on the CD that ships with orders) as it is obviously providing
confusion and really needs a schematic to go with it to clarify what is
going on.

I have taken Ken's schematic and modified it slightly by removing all the
panel pots that confuse the picture. I have then drawn a diagram which shows
all the pots and jacks on the CGS48-FPD panel and indicated the points on
the schematic to which they attach.

I think I have covered everything and hopefully this makes things clearer
for you. Please let me know if you see any corrections that are required.

Best Regards
