I don't really understand either, but then again, I don't speak
German. ;-)

The CGS56 is not what you're looking for. To trigger an MS-xx from
a V-gate output, you need a V-trig to S-trig converter.

Any small signal NPN can be substituted for the 2N3904. You could
use a BC547/BC548/BC549/BC550, for example.

yeah, copy & paste error. I wanted to post this link here:
http://www.cgs.synth.net/modules/cgs56_gatecon.html

But you already go it right, I think. ;)

Then I'm curious why the MS-02 has a more complex
schematic for the trigger converter. Or is it capable of
doing the reverse thing which means convert S-trig
to V-gate?

This time I hope I've posted the correct link. ;)

The link to the german forum shows a thread in which I
discuss a PCB for the Magnus Danielson Oct/Hz Converter.
People suggested to add a trigger converter and therefore in the
last version I added a full MS-02 trigger processor.

Cheers,
Joachim

As far as I can see, this isn't a V-trig to S-trig converter ;
input and output are both V-trig.

The Moog circuit works fine. I've used it to trigger my MS-20 from
an audio card.

Because the card it AC-coupled, the gate won't stay on for long
but the flaw is in the source, not in the converter. I only
mention this as a warning to people who might want to try it.

Yes, but might as well post the original :

Welcome to the CGS comedy troupe. :-)

Is this to drive an MS-20 or similar ? In that case you might want
to replace the trigger processor by three V-trig to S-trig
converters (cf. the Moog schematic in the previous post). One for
EG1+EG2, one for EG1 and one for the S&H to bind them all. Total
cost : 3 transistors, 3 diodes and 3 resistors, 6 pads.

And if you have extra empty space on the PCB, you could even
include a reciprocal S-trig to V-trig converter for those who want
to drive something with the TRIG OUT of their MS. See today's
"S-trig to V-trig converter questions" thread on synth-diy...
